Dedicated to my grandma, Dolores Statman. When she was a teenager, she was an accordionist and opera singer who performed at New York’s Carnegie Hall. Though she stopped making music professionally when she became a mother, she never lost her profound love of music, and she was a big early fan and supporter of my music.

I always wanted to perform a concert for her before she died, and this never seemed like it’d be possible, since she and my grandpa had moved to Arizona during their retirement, and my parents and I were still living thousands of miles away in NYC, with me being far more likely to tour in Europe than the Southwestern USA.

However, in late 2018, long after my parents and I had also left NYC, my grandma invited me to perform at an event in Arizona to celebrate the life of my grandpa who’d recently passed.

This short film combines a clip of me playing my song “Hoyt-Schermerhorn (and a Man with One Hand” from Rhinoceros Crossing at the event in Arizona, with footage of me forming an impromptu band in NYC with the actual man with one hand who the song is based on, from the night we met, earlier that same year.
