New album: The Cut’s That Deep!

Hey everybody! I hope you’re having a good summer so far.

My new album The Cut’s That Deep! is out today, and I figured I’d make a quick post on here to let you know about it.

The Cut’s That Deep! was born out of the work that Kléo and I have been doing over the past year in digging through the archives of my earlier music and other artwork that my parents had been kindly storing in their home.

It combines never-before-heard, often completely unexpected arrangements of Cannonball Statman songs you might already know from other albums, like an acoustic demo of “Hard to Break” from when I first wrote it during the COVID-19 lockdowns and a lo-fi electric piano version of “F Train Over Brooklyn” from when I was a teenager, with some versions of other tunes that are less well-known.

We’re really happy with how this one came out, and it’s the first in a series we’ve put together, so be sure to stay tuned for the next one if you like what you hear!

A download of The Cut’s That Deep! also comes with the entire 11th issue of my photography and poetry zine Stranger Dreams that was originally released in 2011.
