Tom Turkey
After much buzzing around the UK, Europe, and North America talking about it over the past 6 months, the first official single from Cannonball Statman’s upcoming self-titled 32nd album has been released on streaming services! (Here it is on Spotify!)
The release of this song, “Tom Turkey”, follows last month’s release of Killing The Flowers Will Not Delay Spring, a benefit compilation by queer New York artists for the Freedom Theatre in Jenin featuring a new version of Cannonball’s song “Henry Hudson” that will also be on the upcoming self-titled album, which is slated for release in October this year.
In the meantime, two other singles from the album will be released between now and October. For the diehard fans, this year’s reissues of “classic Cannonball albums” from the 2010s are also continuing to take place both on BandCamp and on streaming services until the end of August – and by the end of 2024, all 32 albums from Cannonball’s “official” list thus far will be available online. You may have also heard rumours regarding the tentative plans for a 33 album box set to be released on Cannonball’s 33rd birthday in October 2026; Cannonball has yet to make an official statement as to whether or not these rumours are true.
In addition to this recording of “Tom Turkey”, which was produced by long-time Cannonball co-conspirator Ben Turner, and features additional vocals from the Belgian-Dutch romantic punk artist France de Griessen and saxophone parts from the Mexico City based artist Amazilia, today this blog is proud to be releasing France de Griessen’s brilliant series of behind-the-scenes photos from the making of this album at Axe & Trap Studios in Wells, UK!
See you soon!
